Draft Dissertation
Week 1 (02/04/21)
This week, Dr Hayati briefed us on the module. The first thing that we had to do was create a google drive folder and share it with Dr Hayati.
After that was done, we can start by writing the table of content for our dissertation. Dr Hayati also recommended that we start moving relevant data from our design research methodology files into the dissertation document file.
I started by writing the table of content. I then copied and pasted my problem statement, research questions, and research objective. Below is the progression for my draft dissertation during Week 1:
Figure 1.1 Week 1 Draft Dissertation Progression
I also worked on my literature review matrix so I can start writing under the literature review section during week 2.
Week 2 (09/04/21)
I was done with my literature review matrix by the end of week 2. Below is the literature review matrix I used to write for my literature review in the draft dissertation.
Figure 1.2 Literature Matrix
I only managed to finish 2/3 of my literature review because I was a bit confused on how to attempt it. However, I have added an introduction before my problem statement section. Below is my progression for Week 2:

Week 3 (16/04/21)
For this week, I wanted to finish my literature review before the weekends but I only managed to finish the literature review right before the next class. I also wrote for Section 3. Below is the progression for the week:

Week 4 (23/04/21)
I managed to revise my section 3 and added everything into section 4 during this week. I also added the research problem to the dissertation. Below are the updates for section 4:

Week 5 (30/04/21)
I was done with all of the sections except for the acknowledgement by this week. I did one round of checking to see if the flow was alright since next week would be our draft dissertation submission. I couldn't really add the page numbers correctly so I set that aside first. Below is my progression for the week:
Figure 1.6 Week 5 Draft Dissertation Progress
Week 6 (07/05/21)
I added the acknowledgement and conceptual framework into my draft dissertation. After that, I did a final round of checking for my draft dissertation. Initially, I wanted my page number to be numerical and the content before the content page to be roman but I couldn't really figure out how. I ended up just submitted the one with all numeric numbers.
Below is my submission for the Draft Dissertation

Week 12 (18/06/21)
After receiving feedback from Dr Hayati regarding my draft dissertation, I made further amendments to it during the week. The revised version and Turnitin report is recorded in the Complete Dissertation with Visual Design Publication blog.
FEEDBACK
Week 1 (02/04/21)
- Try to find a literature matrix to help guide your own matrix. Some of them might be a little too extensive, so try to think of what you need to include.
- Make sure to not procrastinate, if not it will reflect on your work.
- The draft dissertation has to be at least 7000 words.
Week 2 (09/04/21)
- Add the lecturer’s remarks for week 1 (need to watch back the recording).
- Change the sheet name to lecture review matrix.
- Identify the themes in the matrix before bringing them into the draft dissertation.
- Make sure to include an introduction before the problem statement.
- Update research framework.
- Maybe 2.2 should go first since you need to have principles before the actual design.
- Just use constraints/limitations as the title.
- Can include the AirSelangor discussion in my introduction.
- Can use other sources from the initial 5 articles.
Week 3 (16/04/21)
- Can consider subsections under the individual points. For example, under UI Design, can have navigation, colour, etc.
- Maybe I can discuss UI UX first, before actually going into the challenges and solutions.
- The flow can be from UI UX, then the principles, then only the challenges, and the solutions can be a subtopic under challenges.
- It’s okay to have a general statement while using the views of the authors from other articles. Basically, it’s a review of what other researchers have written and an analysis of it.
- Try to avoid using “for”, “we”, “why”, at the beginning of sentences.
Week 4 (23/04/21)
- It Will is easier to see if the lecturer remarks are in bullet form
- I missed a few like “by”, “with”, which should also be avoided as the first word of a sentence.
- Add the research problem after the problem statement.
- Try to like the subsections to the main sections. Let the readers know what you will be discussing in the sections.
- Declare if certain things are your own opinion.
- Progression is well
Week 5 (30/04/21)
- have figures for the visual analysis.
- put numbers for the questions.
- spacing between the bullets shouldn’t be double spacing
- findings are already thoroughly discussed in section 4, try not to overlap the content of sections 4 and 5.
- The opening of section 5 can recall back to section 1, the discussion will be the interrelation of the research findings and lit review.
Week 6 (07/05/21)
- Can start constructing the conceptual framework
- Read through the whole research to minimize any mistakes.
- The methodology doesn't have to include the data gathering, have to refine the methodology section.
- Shouldn’t be called data gathering and analysis.
- The figure for the mobile applications are in the wrong section
- Include other people’s responses in a table, don’t leave it as running text.
- Be more descriptive, include figures to help readers understand.
- Have to include why the research was done in the introduction - AirSelangor
- Have to cite the points I concluded in the discussions
- Make sure it is APA Ver 7
