Week 9 (19/10/20)
For this week, I decided that I want to have a visual analysis and an online questionnaire to collect my primary data. For the visual analysis, I chose 5 government mobile application to analyze. The mobile applications chosen were:
FEEDBACK
Week 9 (19/10/20)
Try finding different types of government mobile applications. It doesn’t have to just be Malaysian government mobile applications.
Week 10 (26/10/20)
Can try to compare mobile applications that are more similar to each other. For example, MySejahtera and CDC is relevant to each other since it’s both for COVID-19. For the visual analysis, try to put it in a spreadsheet. Are 6 visual analyses a lot?
Week 11 (02/11/20)
Since there’s a lot of questions and sections, it’s better to inform the participants that it might take a certain time to actually finish the survey. Maybe try getting someone to do the survey and see how long they take. Try to reach out to people outside my age group. For the visual analysis, think it’s still better to put it into a spreadsheet. Maybe for the photos, have miniature versions of it and then have a link that would link to a clearer version of the photo. So far the progression is good.
Week 12 (09/11/20)
Try to get more people outside the age group 18-23. Maybe consider another methodology? Other than that progression seems fine.

Week 9 (19/10/20)
For this week, I decided that I want to have a visual analysis and an online questionnaire to collect my primary data. For the visual analysis, I chose 5 government mobile application to analyze. The mobile applications chosen were:
- MySejahtera
- Air Selangor
- MySPRSemak
- MyTNB
- SmartSelangor
For the online questionnaire, I created a rough guideline on what points I wish to ask:
- Usage of government mobile application (types, duration, main objectives)
- Thoughts on certain design elements (hierarchy, colours, etc.)
- Comparing certain government mobile applications (to show design aspects of chosen government mobile applications and understand what users find effective and/or appealing)
- Rate usability of government mobile applications (understand the difficulties of using government mobile applications or why they find certain features helpful)
- What improvement they wish to see in government mobile applications (will have different parts for different design aspects as well as a general feedback in case anything was missed)
- MySejahtera
- CDC
- AirSelangor
- BC Highway
- USA Jobs
- SmartSelangor
I also started on the visual analysis part for AirSelangor.
Week 10 (26/10/20)
Based on Dr. Hayati's feedback, I tried to find other government mobile applications that were similar to the Malaysia ones. I ended up with:
- MySejahtera (Malaysia) and CDC (USA)
- AirSelangor (Malaysia) and WSD Mobile App (Hong Kong)
- SITS (Malaysia) and T-EX (Taiwan)
I did the visual analysis for CDC, AirSelangor, and WSD Mobile App during this week, and I managed to finish the draft of the online questionnaire.
Week 11 (02/11/20)
Below is the finalized version for my proposed methods:
After consulting Dr. Hayati, I edited some parts of my online questionnaire and had one participant test it out. Once that was out of the way, I edited it further based on the feedback and send out the questionnaire. By the end of the week, I managed to receive 107 responses. I also decided not to continue doing the other 2 visual analysis as I didn't have much time left and had to transfer my original visual analysis data from a document file into a spreadsheet file.
Week 12 (09/11/20)
I decided to extend the collection of responses date to 12/11/20 (Thursday) so I could collect more responses from people outside the age group 18-23. After receiving all the responses, I worked on the data analysis part of it.
Below is the final submission of this project:
