Lecture 1: Briefing on Final Project
06/01/20 (Week 1)
Mr Shamsul briefed us on our Final Project.
After we had our topic and we chose a title to work on, Mr Shamsul came to discuss with us about our motives of choosing this topic and what ideas we had in mind in general.
Once that was done, he showed us the timeline of our work flow and suggested that we all take up different roles.
Lecture 2: Research on Topics
08/01/20 (Week 1)
Mr Shamsul wanted us to create a Google Docs so we could update all of our research and other materials for our own projects. He also wanted us to start writing our scripts if possible.
Lecture 3: After Effects
13/01/20 (Week 2)
Mr Shamsul taught us how to make dynamics smoother and wanted us to try animating a bouncing ball. He wanted us to draw a ball in Illustrator or After Effects.
After that, we moved on to creating something like a text box which would be animated in a way that the text box seems to be drawn out from one end to another. We also learned how to make it glow.
Lecture 4: Reviewing Mood Boards
15/01/20 (Week 2)
For this lecture, all of the groups were supposed to present their mood boards and Mr Shamsul gave feedback accordingly.
Lecture 5: Illustrator
20/01/20 (Week 3)
Continuing Mr Kannan's tutorial on how to use Illustrator, Mr Shamsul showed us more tools in Illustrator. We learned how to create a brush, use Blend to create a gradient, replace Spine of a simple line with the gradient we created earlier, and finally create a simple illustration based on the new techniques we had learn.
Lecture 6: After Effects pt.2
22/01/20 (Week 3)
This week, Mr Shamsul taught us a few ways we could make our text interesting.
First of all, he wanted us to explore the types of effect we could find. He then taught us how to create a kerning effect.
Besides that, we did a "falling" effect so the text would appear as if it was dropping one by one from the top of the frame.
Lastly, we tried to animate the text to appear in strokes.

FINAL PROJECT
Week 1 (06/01/20 - 12/01/20)
After Mr Shamsul briefed us on our Final Project, the topic that our group will be working on is Water. Our group discussed about different approaches we could do with water and we decided to talk about water pollution since nowadays people often mix up water pollution and plastic pollution.
We also discussed about our roles for the final project and the final decision was :
Leader : Kyra
Graphic Design : Yaman and Mia
Animation : Kyra and Farissa
Sound : Jing Wen (Me)
After creating a WhatsApp group, we shared links that we thought might be useful for our topic in it.
During our second class, Mr Shamsul asked us to create a Google Docs so we could put all our research into it and share it in google classroom.
After the creation of the Google Docs, we divided each parts so we could write about different parts of water pollution (causes, effects, etc.) Kyra, Mia, Yaman and I were in charged of doing the research and Farissa would be the main person who writes the script.
Since it was very long, we decided that we should summarize our research so it would be better to write the script.
Week 2 (13/01/20 - 19/01/20)
This week, Mia and Yaman were the main people who worked on the mood board since they were in charge of the graphic design part. The rest of us just chipped in a bit during the decision of the colour scheme.
The comments given by Mr Shamsul was that he thinks the overall mood board is workable and he liked that we included examples of transitions and all in the presentation (thanks to Kyra and Yaman).
Another feedback that was actually given to another group which I feel that I should take note on is that usually mood boards are everything compiled like a collage in one page spread.
As Farissa created the script with the help of Kyra and Yaman, I tried to time the script by narrating after every edited version to make sure it was less than 3 minutes (hopefully shorter since there might be pauses in the middle of scenes).
In the end, we managed to cut the initial draft that would take 4 minutes and 10 seconds into 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Week 3 (20/01/20 - 26/01/20)
Kyra cut the script into different sections so it would be easier for the rest of us to do the animatics and narration. She included the type of animation/transition after every different section.
Based on the above script, I did the narration of the video by recording a different recording for every box of text. Once I was done with it, I placed everything into a folder in Google Drive and shared it to the group.
Kyra also did the storyboard which is just down below :
Week 4 (27/01/20 - 02/02/20)
Yaman created all the stills for the animatics. He also changed the body text typeface so that it would be more readable on screen. He placed the font and the stills into a folder in Google Drive also.
Below is the PDF File of all the stills :
By 29/01/20, Mia was done with the animatics and she help submitted it to the Google Classroom.
As the animatics was done, we started discussing about the actual animation. Since we decided we could start finding some music and sound effects, I suggested my ideas that I prepared beforehand.
In the end, we all think that the suggestions were fine but that I could try finding a better background music.
Mia and Yaman also started working on the assets.
Week 5 (03/02 - 09/02)
All of us (except Yaman) went to Japan so there wasn't much done this week.
Week 6 (10/02 - 16/02)
Farissa created the timestamps for each scene based on the animatics so that it would be easier for the animation part.
I continued to compile all of the potential sound effects into a file. At the beginning, we thought that there wouldn't be much time so Kyra suggested that she'll just put in all the sound effects while she's doing the animation.
Initially, I uploaded all of the audio files with timestamps and the rest for transitions into our master file, but as I'm doing this blog, I noticed that all of them are already gone so here is a screenshot of all of the audios that I used for the animation (later on) .
Yaman and Mia were also done with the assets at this point.
On 15/02/20, we noticed that there is an extension. Therefore, we went back to the original plan where I would put in all the sound effects.
Also, Kyra and Farissa had also started with the animation part.
Week 7 & 8 (17/02 - 01/03)
Kyra and Farissa continue on the animation part and they managed to finish it during the weekend.
On 01/03, Kyra uploaded the final animation without sound effects so I could work on it.
I imported all of the files into AE and added all the sounds. I didn't exactly followed the timing cause some parts were slightly different from the animatics or it just didn't fit as well as I assumed.
I mostly adjusted the audio levels for the sound effects as I already did the editing of the sound effects beforehand.
I exported the file once I was done.
Then, I noticed that the file was 24.3GB for some reason so there was no way I could upload it into Google Drive and have Kyra download it and post it on YouTube.
After discussing, we decided that I would post it onto YouTube and share the link to the video.
